Lamington and Springbrook reward an early start and a small plan. Choose one park section, match the walk to the group, and give mountain roads, changing weather and rainforest stops more time than the map suggests.

A well-serviced Lamington starting point with an accessible day-use area, Centenary Track and a wide range of longer rainforest walks.

Check alerts first, carry water, and treat the accessible first section of the Border Track as a valid experience—not merely a prelude to the long walk.
Review Queensland Parks alerts and choose Green Mountains, Binna Burra or Springbrook before the drive begins.
Use Centenary Track or the accessible Border Track section for a gentler outing, or a longer signed track with the right preparation.
Refill, eat and reassess the weather rather than automatically adding another distant trailhead.
Choose a nearby lookout or circuit only if alerts, conditions and daylight make it sensible.

Before you go
Green Mountains and other popular trailheads have designated parking but can become busy. There is no public transport to the Border Track trailheads; allow extra time on narrow mountain roads.
At Green Mountains, the first 700 metres of the Border Track is accessible with assistance and the 900-metre Centenary Track provides universal access. Other tracks may be steep, muddy or contain many steps.
Domestic animals are not permitted in national parks. Certified assistance animals have separate requirements; review Queensland Parks guidance before visiting.
Natural Bridge's cave is a restricted-access area and swimming in the cave is prohibited. Follow signs at every waterfall and never cross barriers or enter closed areas.
