Leave the mainland at Cleveland, use Point Lookout as the coastal anchor and make space for Quandamooka-led experiences. The island is far better when culture, wildlife and beach time share the itinerary.
Do these first
A dramatic headland circuit with ocean views and strong wildlife-watching potential; stay on the formed path and allow time rather than treating it as a photo stop.
1–2 hoursSee the island through living culture and Country with a local guide, booked directly and respectfully in advance.
2–4 hoursUse the island bus or sealed roads to link Dunwich, Amity Point and Point Lookout, choosing one beach according to current conditions.

Build the first afternoon around Point Lookout, give the second day to culture or a quieter beach, and protect the ferry connection home.
Choose passenger or vehicle ferry deliberately and leave enough margin for check-in and the island connection.
Start before the busiest part of the day, keep a respectful distance from wildlife and stay on the formed Gorge Walk.
Book a Quandamooka-led experience, then choose one open beach or township stop rather than racing across the island.
Spend the morning around Amity Point or Dunwich and protect the booked ferry departure back to Cleveland.

Before you go
Mainland parking and ferry conditions depend on the operator and departure. On the island, use marked township and beach parking; a permit is required before driving in beach recreation areas.
Access varies between ferry services, island transport, beaches and walks. Contact operators before booking. The Gorge Walk includes uneven coastal terrain and should not be assumed step-free.
Dogs are prohibited in Naree Budjong Djara National Park. Leashed dogs are allowed only in specified parts of the Minjerribah Recreation Area, including defined sections of Main and Flinders beaches; check the official map.
Swim only at open, patrolled beaches when flags operate and follow local advice. Swimming at the culturally significant Blue Lake is not appropriate, and ocean conditions can change quickly.
